Nick Greenberg, a professional bassist and composer, has played a wide variety of musical styles: Classical, jazz, rock, Broadway musicals, and even the occasional polka gig. His performances have included concerts at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and in such distant locales as Taiwan.

This project, okay only two tunes so far, grew out of a pile of songs I’d written over the years. Songs that had been sitting on the piano, neglected. One day Max, my son, is home visiting, and starts playing through the stack of music. Hearing the tunes played, or should I say interpreted by a real piano player, not a bassist, made me realize there was something here. Something that needed to see the light of day.

Shortly after that, I asked Max to produce, record and play piano on this venture. He agreed, then set out to find the perfect collaborators. And find him he did! Very talented Los Angeles musicians!

After hearing the completed songs—both of them—I was astounded by how much each musician had brought to the table. And that was how the band name, Equal Parts, came to be. That, and I was reading the description of the cocktail I’d just ordered.

The album, which will consist of more than two songs, I promise, will hopefully be released in the near-ish future.
